Head of Operation Clean and Healthy Abambra state, Kenneth Okonkwo aka Ocha, died following complications from an injury he sustained after his car plunged into a ditch along one of the roads in the state yesterday. Channels Television's State House correspondent, Chukwuma Onuekwusi, has died. According to reports, he died in the early hours of today May 23rd. A graduate of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Chukwuma joined Channels TV in 1998. He is survived by wife and 3 Children. May his soul rest in peace, Amen. Meanwhile some of his friends and colleagues have taken to social media to pay tributes to him.

Dreaded terrorist group, ISIS has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack which occurred last night, killing 22 people, most of them children and their parents.  The terrorist group released a statement today in several languages through its central media body where they praised the attack and claimed more than 100 "crusaders" were killed or wounded at the "shameless" concert. The statement went on to hail the suicide bomber as a "soldier of the caliphate" and threatened that what would come next would be more severe on the "worshippers of the Cross and their allies, by Allah's permission." , an explosion went off in Manchester Arena, England, after Ariana Grande performed the “ first of three scheduled UK performances ” in front of a mostly adolescent audience. The British authorities are reportedly treating the incident as a terror attack.  CNN reports  that a British Chief Constable Ian Hopkins confirmed the incident, saying he “the attacker died at the arena. Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, has vowed to resign if Nigeria continues to import fuel by 2019. He made this statement  on Monday , during an interview on BBC World Service programme, HardTalk, hosted by Stephen Sackur. Mr. Kachikwu promised to see to it that the refineries were completed to ensure that there is a future for oil in Nigeria. He also stated during the interview that the government plans to diversify into agriculture, tourism, and other sources of revenue to solve the problem of over-dependence on oil. Mr. Kachikwu declared that 2019 has been set as the target for Nigeria to become self-sufficient in refining petroleum and put an end to its import. He said: “2019 is the target time… I target 2019. If I don’t achieve it, I will walk…I put the date and I will achieve it." Shoprite has donated goods valued at N2-million to the American University of Nigeria’s Feed and Read Program.   The items, which included perishable and non-perishable food, beverages, and toiletries, will be used by the program to help vulnerable children in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria, where an estimated 78% of 6-17 year olds cannot read.  The statistics for girls and women are even worse. The low literacy and numeracy rates are compounded by the number of children who are displaced, separated from families or orphaned; large numbers of displaced teachers; and schools that have been destroyed or closed due to violence in the area. The program teaches beneficiaries how to read and provides them with a meal every day.  It is aimed at preparing them to move into mainstream schooling and finding employment. The remains of late actress, Moji Olaiya, will be flown back to Nigeria after APC Chieftain, Bola Tinubu, offered his assistance. This was revealed by Olukayode Salako, husband of actress, Foluke Daramola, who's the secretary of the committee in charge of Olaiya's burial. Few days ago, multiple media houses reported that the Ekiti State government intervened and stopped the burial from taking place in Canada as planned, with the intention of bringing the body back to Nigeria. The burial committee however issued a statement denying the reports, saying they were yet to get feedback from the state government concerning the burial. Olukayode Salako has now revealed that Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose, dismissed their request even though the  Late Moji Olaiya was an indegene and Cultural Ambassador of the state. A female councillor was shocked speechless when her male colleague proposed to her during a public meeting. Cllr Rosemary Woolley appeared uneasy when fellow Conservative Martin Trollope-Bellew popped the question in his last act as chairman of Lincolnshire County Council. To end his last speech as council chairman, Trollope-Bellew said: "Finally I've got one last question for a member of this council. Councillor Miss Rosemary Woolley, will you marry me?'' A 32yr old German woman identified as Gabriele P has been jailed for 12-and-a-half years for manslaughter after she tied her lover to a bed and then killed him with a circular saw. She got off with a relatively light sentence as prosecutors had wanted her to be imprisoned for life for murder. Prosecutors heard how Gabriele and her lover Alex H decided to try something kinky while having sex at their student flat in Munich. Alex who was 28 at the time put on diving goggles covered with masking tape which prevented him from seeing anything. He then allegedly asked her to tie him up, she obliged then reached for the saw which she used to kill him and then slice off his head. The murder which took place in 2008 was made known after an acquaintance of the suspect heard about the incident and alerted the police.
